South Sudan re-issues amnesty for rebels, including Yau Yau
April 26, 2013 (BOR) – The president of South Sudan, Salva Kiir, on Friday re-issued an amnesty to rebel leaders operating in the countries Jonglei, Unity and Upper Nile state.

Signed by the president, the decree granted pardons to both the leaders of rebel groups and the men serving under them.
Kiir had previously issued an amnesty to South Sudanese rebels ahead of the country’s independence from Sudan in 2011.
Some rebels leaders, such as David Yau Yau in Jonglei, eventually accepted Kiir’s offer but later rebelled again.
