S. Sudan’s Kiir lures graduates into private sector

April 28, 2015 (JUBA) – South Sudanese president Salva Kiir on Tuesday advised graduates to venture into the private sector, instead of eyeing jobs in the government.

“While we welcome the new graduates in the club of employment, I encourage you to work not only in the government but [also] in the private sector so that your talent can develop this nation,” he told over 3,000 University of Juba students.

“I want to assure you the graduates that the positions in the government offices are very limited. If any one of you thinks that he/she will be appointed a minister tomorrow, then things will not go well with you,” added Kiir, also the institution’s chancellor.

The university last held a similar graduation ceremony 12 years ago, officials revealed.

Established in 1975, Juba University is one of the five public institutions operating in the nation, awarding Diplomas, Degrees, Masters and Doctorates of Philosophy (PHDs).
