Sudanese govt, NDA peace talks resume today

CAIRO, June 19, 2005 (MENA) — Sudanese First Vice-President Ali Osman Taha, leader of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement John Garang and Osman al-Mirghani, chairman of the Sudanese National Democratic Alliance will resume their peace talks in Cairo on Sunday.

The talks started on Wednesday within the framework of peace negotiations between Khartoum and opposition parties, said Al-Sayid Khatam al-Sirr, the spokesman for the NDA.

The three parties on Saturday signed a peace agreement to pave the way for reaching a compromise to armed men in eastern Sudan and other pending issues.
