Sudan Persists in Investigation of U.S. Bombardment of Phamaceutical Factory

Aug 31, 2005 (Addis Adaba) — Sudan said it persists in its demand for a mission to be sent by the UN Security Council to investigate the American allegations, which it said, led US to the bombardment of Alshifa Pharmaceutical Factory seven years ago, the Sudanese Embassy in Addis Ababa said.

The Sudan shall persist on its demand for a mission to be sent by the Security Council to investigate the American allegation, which led to the aggression, the Embassy quoted the statement issued by Sudanese Foreign Affairs Ministry as saying in a press release it sent to ENA yesterday.

It said the unjustified American aggression on Alshifa Factory and its total destruction was a conduct that went beyond all international conventions by violating the sovereignty of a member state of the United Nations, defying international laws, destroying personal property and exposing civilians to danger.

The Sudan on its part has proved its compliance with the rules of international conduct. It submitted details of the circumstances surrounding the aggression and the damages it suffered thereof, to the United Nations and explored, as well, all bilateral channels with the United States, it added.

According to the statement, the Sudan shall adhere persistently to its right in alleviating the injustice inflicted on its sovereignty and the damages caused to its people and properties.

This painful memory must be a lesson for the international community to learn through which hazards of using force and state terrorism, it said.

The statement was issued in connection with the seventh anniversary of the bombardment Alshifa Pharmaceutical Factory by the United States of America.
