Sudan Tribune mourns the death of a colleague’s mom

Sudan Tribune would like to offer its deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Hellen Yaiyo Mude who passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2008.

Hellen is the mother of Sudan Tribune staff reporter Isaac Vuni.

Hellen Yaiyo Mude

Born in 1930 at Loa Pajokwa village
Died on 17th June 2008 in Nairobi Kenya
Buried on 19th June 2008 in Juba Jebel Cemetery

Married to Francis Mude and had their first born Kure Avelino in 1946, the second born was Opi Abraham in 1948 who died at the age of ten, third born were twins- Opiya and Muya, both died twenty four hours after birth, the forth born was Gune Sarha who died at the age of twenty years and the last born is Isaac Vuni in July 1957.

Her beloved husband Francis Mude died on 31st July 1998 and buried at ancestral area of Ebilindi, four miles from west of Libijo village.

Word of Appreciation

On behalf of Mude’s family, I would like to register our appreciation and thanks to those who stood with us at time of grief and offered their endless support in various ways in ensuring that body of my dear mother Hellen Yaiyo Mude was flown from Nairobi to Juba on 18th June 2008.

Due to Ugandan rebels Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) in Madi area particularly in Nyongwa-Kerepi area were LRA abducted two people on 14th June, compounded with UPDF stationed at Libijo none invention at the time when contingent of LRA were crossing through Libijo to Nyongwa areas, the remains of Mama Hellen Yaiyo Mude has to be laid to rest in Juba Jebel cemetery on 19th June 2008.

During her live time, my late Mam Hellen Yaiyo had been a very caring mother to me, to my children in Nairobi, my cousin brothers and sisters among other relatives

Even though we as a family would badly miss the motherly advices of Mama Hellen Yaiyo, especially on historical issues and her comforting singing to our youngest daughter Sohpe Juwa Vuni, we thanks the Lord for protecting her for more than 78 years of being with us. Hellen Yaiyo is survived by a son and six grand children.

It is the Lord who gives and takes, therefore, we are grateful to Mam Hellen Yaiyo Mude for providing us, especially me her only son, with vital family information after the dead of my dear father Francis Mude Mamur on 31st July 1998.

Late Mama Hellen Yaiyo Mude died on Tuesday 17th June 2008 in Nairobi Kenya and the remains was flown to Juba on 18th June 2008 and buried on 19th June 2008 at Juba Cemetery.

May the Almighty God rest her soul in eternal Peace.
