Lakes state government reshuffled

By Manyang Mayom

June 2, 2009 (RUMBEK) — The President of the Government of Southern Sudan (GOSS) Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit issued a long-awaited presidential decree that relieves Lakes state ministers, advisors and commissioners and replaces them with new cadres or reinstates others.

The new faces in the state cabinet include the security advisor, Maj. Gen. Maciek Akuocpir Cyer, who was director for SPLA training at GOSS level.

Kiir named too a former security advisor to become state Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Martin Anhiem Arier.

Surprisingly to some, David Nok Marial, who served as deputy governor during the term of Governor Awet’s predecessor, John Laat Zechariah and during Awet’s time in 2007, has been returned as the next deputy governor, replacing Awan Guol Riak.

Nok had been immediately removed when he went at odds with the current governor. His return to power is thus notable to many politicians and the general public of Lakes state.

Another former official, the ex-commissioner for Rumbek East for three years, 2000 to 2004, Mabor Mayen Wol, has been returned into the commissionership. He was removed following allegations of misappropriation of public resources.

This is not the first time that the GOSS president has reshuffled posts in Lakes state; it is now its fourth time since the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement.

Full details of the presidential move are below.

Well done brother Kiir. Days are numbered for our man, David Nok marial without coming to power. Now that he is brought back, he will correct his previous shortcomings.

well done Mr Manyang, the reason now is Mr Nok coming back is very bad. I larnt the time he was in big post. his platoon of wives do not cook, nor fetching water on nearby Hand pump. they employed slaves at their home.

second important tihng about Nok is the way he talked last time that he is—- Mr of I don,t care.
he talked to teachers that his kids plus other kids of his likes are in Uganda. that it is upto teachers plus communities who are poor to educate their kids alone.

he told teachers that they will not make more anoise again.
