Switzerland to support communities emerging from conflicts in Sudan

March 6, 2018 (KHARTOUM) – Sudan and Switzerland have discussed ways to promote cooperation between the two countries to support security and stability for communities emerging from conflicts.

Sudan’s State Foreign Minister Atta al-Mannan Bakhit on Monday met with a visiting Swiss delegation headed by the chairman of the advisors to the peace policy board at the Swiss Foreign Ministry.

According to the official news agency SUNA, Bakhit stressed Sudan’s determination to combat illegal migration, demanding the international community to provide the necessary support to his government in this regard.

He pointed out to Sudan’s cooperation with the neighbouring countries to protect the joint borders against human trafficking and illegal migration.

The Sudanese minister briefed the Swiss delegation on the current situation in the country particularly in Darfur, The South Kordofan and the Blue Nile States.

Bakhit further called on the Swiss government and the international community to increase their support for the development work in the country to achieve stability, expressing his government’s unlimited willingness to cooperate in this regard.

The meeting also discussed cooperation between the two countries in all fields especially culture and science.
