Release of Dr Mudawi Ibrahim Adam

Yesterday, the Advisory Council for Human Rights has informed SUDO that Dr Mudawi has been released since the 3rd of March 2005. No charges were pressed against him. The National Security and Intelligence Service suspected that Dr Mudawi has been establishing an unregistered organization in Kordofan.
At present, the Attorney of Crimes against the State is accusing him on committing suicide (hunger strike) according to Article 133 of the Criminal Law.
Now he is still in the hospital to receive medical care.
Background:
On 24 January 2005, Dr Mudawi Ibrahim Adam, human rights activist and chairperson of the Sudan Social Development Organization (SUDO) was arrested at his family home in North Kordofan. He was initially detained at the Security offices in Al-Obeid. Then they moved him to the National Security Office in Khartoum. Thanks to the international pressure, he had been transferred to the hospital on 24th of February in order to get urgent care.
