22 killed in RSF drone strike on South Kordofan hospital

February 5, 2026 (EL KUIK) – At least 22 people, including medical staff, were killed on Thursday and eight others wounded in a drone strike by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on a hospital in the town of El Kuik in South Kordofan state, the Sudan Doctors Network said.

The strike targeted the El Kuik military hospital and killed its medical director along with three other medical workers. The Sudan Doctors Network condemned the attack as a war crime and a violation of international humanitarian law protecting medical facilities and civilians.

The alliance between the RSF and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) has increasingly targeted health facilities in the state’s urban centres. Local observers say the strategy aims to disable the remaining medical infrastructure, further deteriorating residents’ humanitarian conditions.

The escalation in aerial attacks on facilities in Kadugli and Dilling follows recent gains by the Sudanese army, which succeeded in breaking the siege on both cities and clearing supply routes previously held by the RSF-SPLM alliance.

The Sudan Doctors Network said the assault was part of a broader pattern of violence in South Kordofan that has forced multiple hospitals to close, threatening the few health services still available to the population.

The group called on the international community and United Nations agencies to take immediate action to halt the targeting of medical installations and held the RSF responsible for the strike.
