Sudan’s Burhan discusses ceasefire with Bahraini King during Gulf tour

May 13, 2026 (MANAMA) – Sudan’s Sovereign Council Chairman Abdel Fattah al-Burhan concluded a brief visit to Bahrain on Wednesday, where he discussed the conflict in Sudan and regional stability with King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

Burhan arrived in Manama as part of a Gulf tour that began Tuesday with unannounced stops in Saudi Arabia and Oman.

The Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported that the meeting covered regional and international developments, with a focus on efforts to reach a permanent ceasefire in Sudan. Discussions emphasized meeting the aspirations of the Sudanese people for peace, preserving the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and ensuring the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid nationwide.

King Hamad welcomed the visit and reviewed bilateral relations, expressing a commitment to strengthening cooperation between the two nations.

The King highlighted the depth of ties between Bahrain and Sudan and praised Sudan’s expressions of solidarity following recent Iranian attacks against the Kingdom.

According to BNA, Burhan expressed his gratitude for the reception and reaffirmed Sudan’s support for Bahrain. He condemned the Iranian aggression and backed all measures taken by the Kingdom to protect its security and sovereignty.
