Sudan Airways, Ethiopia Airlines agree to cooperate

June 17, 2006 (KHARTOUM) — The Sudan Airways and the Ethiopian Airlines signed an agreement at the Headquarter of Sudan Airways in Khartoum and decided to carry out cooperation between the two sides.

The agreement includes commercial aspects, joint operation, cooperation in the field of external flights, fleets of the two companies, maintenances of aircrafts and ground handling as well as enhancing cooperation in the domains of technical, engineering and administrative aspects.

The two sides further agreed to activate the agreement on liberation of African Airspaces in order to serve their interests.

The agreement stipulated that the Ethiopian Airlines allocates weekly space for 20-30 tones in its cargo flights from London for Sudan Airways. The two companies further agreed to enhance cooperation in the flights linking Khartoum- Bombay- Beijing as well as in domains of market’s studies.

The talks between the two sides also touched on possibility of organizing flights for Ethiopian airlines to Juba and from there to other African countries.

In this connection, Nasruddin Mohd Ahmed commended the relations linking Sudan and Ethiopia, describing the agreement as a model for fruitful cooperation and would further strengthen the cooperation between the two countries.

Meanwhile, the General Manager of the Ethiopian Airlines described as” very good” the 3-day bilateral talks, saying that they led to the conclusion of an excellent agreement.

He added that the agreement would enhance cooperation between the two companies and the relations between the peoples of Sudan and Ethiopia and the African relations in general.
