Arab League says committed to support Darfur force
June 30, 2007 (CAIRO) — The Arab League is committed to supporting African Union (AU) peacekeepers in the troubled region of Darfur, Arab League Secretary-General Amr Musa said on Saturday.
The Arab League continues to provide the AU with available funds in order to boost the African mission in Darfur, he added, the official MENA reported.
Arab League chief Musa said that during his visit to the Ghanaian capital to attend the 9th summit of the African Union Sunday, he will hand over another contribution to the funding for the African peacekeepers in Darfur to the AU Commission Chairman Alpha Oumar Konare.
Musa will head for Accra later in the day to take part in the African summit. He will meet a number of African presidents and chief delegates taking part in the gathering.
