Former Sudan FM says he was targeted since appointment

December 28, 2007 (KHARTOUM) — Sudanese former foreign minister said he was targeted by some people who working to oust him form his position since his appointment in the national unity government.

lam_akol3.jpgLam Akol told Ashrouq TV, a new private channel in Khartoum, that his removal from the national cabinet was an ordinary matter and he was not surprised. He further accused some persons of being behind his dismissal.

Lam added these people are the same who were targeting Telar Ring Deng, the former state minister at the presidency and Aleu Ayeng Aleu, the former state minister of Interior.

It was a campaign from “people that we know their objectives, with whom they are working and who is backing them” he told the pro-National Congress Party TV channel.

However the declined to name them.

The former foreign minister stressed that accusations of implementing the NCP policy directed against him are baseless. He said such allegations are spread by people who ignore the decision making process in the state or they wanted to damage his reputation.

In a first ministerial reshuffle announced last October, following the suspension of the SPLM participation in the national government, Lam Akol was appointed as cabinet affairs minister.

During the political crisis between the two peace partners over the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement, Lam was accused of “suspected contacts” with some SPLM leading members in the parliament and the party.

You claimed to be working to protect “Sudan reputation” but for God sake, what kind of reputation does Sudan have?

It would make sense if you say frankly you were working to protect your reputation. Otherwise, Sudan is shameful and a failed country in which you have been part since 1991.

Now decides if you want to continue switching side as usual or sit down in your house and start using those checks NCP having been giving you for your good works.

I should say congratulation to SPLA leadership for taking tough decisions against infiltration of NCP. Good clear message had been sent to both the SPLA rank and to the enemy!!!!!!!!!

Mr. Akol should not try to mount the accusation to the people to whom he will not specify, the reshufling is always there in every government and it does not mean that if you are remove during reshufling then it meant that people have plan it against you, you are not only the person who is perminentely assigned to that post, and before that you were a minister in NCP government before you rejion the movement. you should not connect your self with those of aleu and Telar, accept the change and work for the betterment of the SPLM or therwise it will not be good for you to leave the movement for a second time.

It is not crystal clear why Dr.Lam Makol
keep suspecting unspecified targeter.I personally think Hon Makol should ask himself the folllowing questions before launching suspicion:What is the problem between him and people of southern Sudan that rifted off his ministerial post? What are the causes of such consequential measures against him? How can they be resolves?

For anyone of his calibre to be attractive to the masses and i mean the people of Southern Sudan, his idealogies should be transparent ,reflective ,recognitive and inclusive of all parties. There are no accidents in these simple philosophies. Every effect must have its cause. The past is the cause of the present, and the present will be the cause of the future. All these are links in the endless chain stretching from the finite to the infinite.”

Dr.Lam Makol should asked for another chance of forgiveness from Southerners
and promise that he will change his suspected policies.
He should notice that he lost his track and he can regain and learn from his mistakes. The following should be clear to Hon Dr.Lam Makol from our very own perspectives as citizens that,”We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection as Southerners.

Just by the virtues of being transparent
and being inclusive,it not too late for Dr.Lam Makol to win back the confidence of his fellow Southern Sudanese. It does not really matter which direction he is accusing or blaming. What matters is how he can ensure to be the part of the flock.

Let us have faith that right makes might, and in that faith, let us, to the end, dare to do our duty as we understand it.Abraham Lincoln once said,” A house divided against itself cannot stand,I do not expect the house to fall – but I do expect it will cease to be divided. It will become all one thing or all the other.”

I believe the Government of Southern Sudan
GOSS cannot endure permanently to let you go,but it is upto your very
willingness to shake hands with GOSS in firm brotherhood and all issues will be
    resolved peacefully.

Happy christmas and happy new year
to all Sudanese wherever the may be!
    Thank you all!

    My Turn,

    My opinion.

Dr. Lam should stop accusing some members of the SPLM of targeting him. If he was targeted, why was he the only one targeted not others. He should ask himself some questions before talking unnecessary things. He has no more rights to be assign that positions than others. Let me tell Mr. Lam that over 80 percent of southern masses detest his leadership style. We have not been happy with Mr. Lam since 1991. Unless he opens a new chapter he will alway receive a minimum support from us. He seem to be double dealing. If you really want to be one of the leaders in future, sit down, think twice and rectify anything that you thing people don’t like about you. There are many things I don’t like about you and you should come out clearly and prove to us your goodness. You have always been a turncoat and you are free to do so. You keep on switching parties only to suit your interest. So, why would people keep you in an office that is meant to serve them not yourself. We can not allow you to benefit at the expense of others. During the time of difficulties (1991), you were not with us and you have to change before you win our support for you leadership. Honestly speaking, you can’t win majority support because you are a man of your own interest. You first defected from the NCP and join the SPLM which was good for you. Unfortunately, you made a wrong U-turn to NCP but back again to SPLM with NCP agenda. So, are you ready to make another U-turn? Do you think a person who keeps on switching between the same parties will ever be trusted? These are simple things you have to understand Mr. Akol. If you want to be trusted, stay put in one party. But if you like,do it, we don’t care. But my advice to you is that, if you want to be considered as one of our future leaders, calm down and work for the party. Fight for your position within by working hard but not against others. Once again, until you start over again with new ideas, you will never win our support. We are waiting to see how you will behave after this. Whether you betray us or not, that is not our concern because you have done it before. But remember that this will be the last time to betray us should you do it again. We will never accept you back should you switch back to NCP. But you still have some chances to stay in the party and prove what you are better of.
Stop accusing others for your removal. About 90% of southerners are happy about your removal. So, if you want to revenge against the southern masses for your removal, do it. We are ready to hit back on our betrayers.

I am so sorry mr Lam, your objectives are not clear to Sudanese people particlarly the southerners. I believe that you were working for your own intrest with national unity governemnt. Now it is too late to complain. No body will listen to you because no body wants your representation in Sudan govrnemt any more.

    May God blesses Southern Sudan

I can’t understand why H.E Dr. Lam keeps accusing others of targeting him whenever he fails!! He has been given enough time by SPLM, yet he proves that he’s unworthy. H.E should know that political profiles are subject to rotation. If he doesn’t believe in SPLM vision, why doesn’t he leave peacefully..
