By Manyang Mayom

August 2, 2009 (KHARTOUM) – MTN, a multinational telecommunication group, on Sunday lhas officially aunched its mobile network in Yirol West County (YWC) of Lakes state.

The opening ceremony, held at MTN compound premises, was attended by Yirol West county commissioner, Agok Manyiel Dhieu, as well as MTN sale’ manager, Alam Madol including honorable members representing Lakes state assembly , the Government of Southern Sudan (GOSS) as well as the Government of national unity.

The inauguration also comprised of the Yirol West County traditional court authority chiefs and the entire youth who led their town into traditional dance during the launching ceremony of MTN.

MTN, which successfully launched in Juba last year, has extended its network coverage to Wau, Warrap, Rumbek, Malakal and will soon launch its network in Yei, Mundri, Bentiu, Maridi, Yambio and many other places in Southern Sudan.

In February this year MTN Sudan had officially inaugurated a new Mobile Switching Center (MSC) that will serve MTN’s network in Southern Sudan.

“This is our second step in the tele-communication network since the Mobitel network was installed in 2008. Now MTN is our second step connection worldwide and we must cooperate with 150 countries where MTN is operating” said YWC commissioner.

He also said that since 1956, the county has been depending on postal services communication system which was sometimes slow to easy communication.

“This is a great step to development since SPLM took up arms to liberate the people as we witnessed the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA). It is our exclusively duty for we Southern Sudanese to develop our communication,” said Manyiel

The long a waited MTN Company made a very colorful inauguration in Yirol town. “I am very happy because MTN is a good network and actually it will host the majority of clients including children who would like to communicate to their relatives far-away. It is a clear network accessible without common mistakes,” said James Mabor Ikau YWC youth representative.

However, the MTN sale’s manager, Mr. Lam Madol, cautioned the community not to duplicate the prices of scratch cards from their original prices, adding that if the price is ten pounds on the scratch card, then it must remain ten pounds and the customer has the right to pay accordingly.

Furthermore, Lakes state is covered by four telephone networks composed of MTN, MOBITEL, well-known as ZAIN, CANAR and GEMTEL which uses a Ugandan country code +256.

I quite agree with Mr. Lam Madol …. duplication of prices for scratch cards should not be allowed.

As it’s the case everywhere, these figures of 1,2,5,10 pounds printed on the cards must be honoured for the sake of stardardization.

Yes it’s exactually vital to have such a things we nver had for some centuries & i,d to urge ever sothern Sudanese to pick & choose what last longer & not only to have them because all of these networks have instability of their networking acessability.
I also wanna put my tongue on these networks managers, they desire taking people’s money & they don’t provide services to customers twenty four (24)hours,always said can’t be at this time or try again later, what a fucken hell you,re doing, don,t u work 4 promotion? how can we appreciate u fully with this mess up.
