South Sudan ruling party accuses NCP of backing Athor uprising

By Julius N. Uma

May 16n 2010 (JUBA) — Renegade General George Athor Deng’s recent uprising against the Southern government should not be viewed as a post-election issue, but a plot by the Khartoum regime to disrupt South Sudan’s preparations for the forthcoming referendum, Mr. Pagan Amum, the SPLM Secretary General has said.

At a media briefing held at the party’s Southern Sector Secretariat on Saturday, Mr. Amum said his party had secured credible information that the National Congress Party (NCP) was fully backing Gen. Athor and forces loyal to him.

Asked to substantiate further on the NCP’s alleged involvement, the SPLM Secretary General said the party’s [SPLM] intelligence report strongly link the renegade General’s rebellion to the Khartoum regime’s continuous trends of providing logistical and financial support to “enemies” of Southern Sudan.

Mr. Amum’s remarks comes just days after his involvement in an African Union consultative meeting, during which he reportedly told delegates in attendance that the Southern government would not accept any form of negotiations aimed at delaying the referendum date.

According to the SPLM Secretary General, the entire African continent as well as members of the international community have embarked on a coordinated effort to ensure that Sudan’s referendum, a key requirement of the 2005 Comprehensive Peace Agreement, is not only a peaceful, free and fair, but also a smooth transition that respects the right and interest of all concerned citizens.

Analysts, however, contend that for the 2011 referendum to succeed as planned, the Southern semi-autonomous government must find quick remedies towards resolving prevailing scores of post-election uprisings, discontent as well as tribal conflicts among citizens.

Tension is already mounting after General Athor reportedly warned civilians to vacate Bor, the Jonglei state capital, prior to fresh attacks on government forces.

On Friday, five members of Sudan’s People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) were reportedly killed in the fourth attack carried by forces loyal to renegade General.

SPLA spokesperson, Kuol Diem Kuol confirmed the incident, saying the attack involved an ambush on an army truck in Koliet, Northern Jonglei.

“The SPLA soldiers managed to fire back. The fighting killed five from the forces loyal to Athor…but others were injured,” Kuol was quoted saying.

    Readers,

The trend continues either for the worse or for the best. People who want to get rich solely like Lam Akol, former defector Traitor Riak Machar and now Gen. Athor Deng have always head to Khartoum. The folks I am mentioning are still living, however, almost 90% of the flock have lost their lives without achieving what they were aiming for. Gen. Athor’s destiny could fall under either scenerio here. He may die probably with others like his past colleagues, or he may come back like Traitor Riak or Lam to eat his vomits when his honeymoon days are over with Bashir and his Khartoum gangs.

    Dear Readers,

The SPLM’s communist-unionist fanatic, Pagan De Evil Amum is fueling the already burning fire by blaming a legitimate revolt by south sudanese patriots like George Athor and others on NCP. The question should be what caused George Athor’s revolt?

It is the SPLM’s PB along with its corrupted-crooks that rigged the election on behalf of Kuol in Jonglei that pissed off George Athor. So, don’t mixed up priorities. The SPLM messed up by rigging the election in favor of its violence & war-monger leaders in Jonglei and across south sudan.

SPLM should instead has a check of reality without putting blame on NCP. Better deal with the SPLM’s foolish and idiotic election strategy that caused the popular rebellous against the SPLM among south sudanese. Pagan Amum’s idiotic and stupid theatrical accussation of NCP will not work this time.

George Athor and his forces are based in Jonglei. No south sudanese would take the SPLM intelligence seroiusly because it is the same SPLM intelligence that help rigged the election for SPLM. Pagan Amum is simply fueling the conflict among south sudanese, period.

Pagan Amum, please tell the truth. No NCP forces with Athor in Jonglei. Go figure!!!

What a shame if Athoor allows Jallaba to use him at this critical time. Let me just believe it’s not true.

    Hi blank brains,
According to my imagination, there will be an illumination of the truth in the South since General Athor Deng Dut spoke out loudly in Jonglei after he saw blank men drive their government without knowing to establish the realties in the South. There are a lot of huge corruptions in Jonglei since governor Kuol took his governorship by force when he appointed to represent his people in Khratuom without obeying the rights of Jonglei citizens. He does not address the issues facing his state since he heads the state like the conflict in Atar and Khorfulus about the naming of county as the governor. What is kind of governor? If Kiir is wisdom man, why he can not adjust this problem without waiting to let the problem escalates in whol the south in which would prevent the south from getting an Independence in 2011. It is an essential thing to negotation quickly as the International Community said the South needed be freed by all means so that it would get it Independence as it fought for so long. I will reject the idea of getting Independence since Kiir does not know how to lead when easier thing abstract his mind at this time. How about if the South become a nation and this thing happens? He could leave the country. General Athor is the winning right now since president of the South failed not to negotaition with him and he see the lives are been lost by his own citizens and said they are upto them. What is kind of president now? I wish I could rule you,Sudanese.aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
