Darfur rebel movement dismiss UNAMID account on Kalma camp incident
July 27, 2010 (KHARTOUM) — A Darfur rebel group accused of instigating violence at an Internally Displaced Camp (IDP) denied their responsibility for the shootout and described the account released by United Nations-African Union peacekeepers “as an attempt to conceal their complicity”.
UNAMID has reported gunmen belonging to the Sudan Liberation Movement led by Abdel-Wahid Al-Nur (SLM-Nur) started firing inside the Kalma camp indiscriminately which houses 100,000 IDP’s in South Darfur.
“This is a flat out lie. Our forces would never expose the life of our people by firing in the camp,” Al-Nur told Sudan Tribune.
“These are government elements that infiltrated the camp with the consent and knowledge of the UNAMID people. They are trying to intimidate the people there and pressure them to join the Doha talks under El-Sissi [Liberation and Justice Movement (LJM) chairman]” he added.
The SLM leader and some residents at the camp claimed to Sudan Tribune that the sheiks in the camp have been specifically targeted because they rejected joining the talks to represent the IDP’s and that some have sought UNAMID protection.
Al-Nur said that UNAMID is complicit in allowing the government agents to carry out the assault inside the camp.
“UNAMID wants the IDP’s to be part of the talks in Doha so they let this happen. Khartoum on the other hand wants to use this as an excuse to raid the camp on the grounds of insecurity and take it down” the SLM chief added.
The peacekeeping force said in its daily briefing that tensions have been rising in the camp with some IDPs at the camp saying they were not fully represented as part of the of Darfuri civil society in Doha.
But one of the camp residents who identified himself by the name of Eissa said that the IDP’s have no interest in going to Doha without meeting their demands first.
The mission reported that it is now negotiating with Kalma’s leaders to avert an escalation of the violence, while peacekeepers have stepped up their patrols in and around the camp.

Darfur rebel movement dismiss UNAMID account on Kalma camp incident
Yesterday I asked one of Sudanese opinion writer focus on Darfur about the incident in Kalma IDPs camp; and according to his communication with the heads of the IDPs he was told the following:
After the suspension of Doha talk because the main rebel group are not particapting and also those taken to Doha by the gvoernemnt of Sudan are repudiated by the IDPs that they do not represent the IDPs but themselves and governemnt of Sudan.Tigani Sessy, governemnt of Sudan and some individuals from UNIMAID met and agreed to catch the heads of Kalma IDPs camp. With informations from UNIMAID who knows the heads of KALMA IDPs camp they were able to succceded and arrested two leaders of the IDPs.On the shooting the IDPs said that it was governemnt forces and UNIMAID that shot three bullets. This intimidation on IDPs came after a week from the statement of the NCP memeber who is responsible of Darfur Desk Ghazi Salahu Eldin who threatened that in a very near future they will desmantel the rebels Kalma IDPs camp amd then the rest will follw.
I don’t know how far these reports are correct but I advice the UN to select impartial committee that would not include any from UNIMAID, because UNIMAD because part of the problem. A confidentail person told me that any move of UNIMAD must be oked from SAF and the Janjaweeds.

Brother Paul Ongee
This is a very sad fact that our brothers Africa on power are like whorse; they are with the stronger and who pays more. For the sake of money they can sell their own people leave alone the people of Darfur or people of South Sudan. So whoever depends on AU resolve their problem is like someone depends on tilted wall.
That is why; in many Afrcian youth Forum I have attended, I was continuously urging the young generation of Africa to change the post colonial leaders like Ping wing who always increases agony for the victims for just to please the money owners. By the way most young people from 34 African countries agreed with me but they are handicupped like their brothers in Sudan. However since there is a will there always a way.

Khartoum regime is planning to push on the throat of genocide victims the resolutions of Doha talks which recommended the dismantling of the IDPs camp of Darfur which became incurable thorn on the flesh of the regime. In order to do so they must first give the victims bad name and the punish them; the bad name Khartoum want to give it to the victims is that, they are supporters of SLM( Abdul Wahid) and the have guns. Because the UNIMAD acting according to instruction of Khartoum that is why UNIMAD released the false accusations against the IDP. If the IDPS have machine guns Iam sure the regime would not be able to attack them every day. So UNIMAD should stop implementing Khartoum’s schemes against the genocide victims.
