Civilian killed, others injured in RSF attacks on Omdurman

RSF artillery and drone strikes targeted residential areas in Omdurman, early Sunday, March 23, 2025
March 23, 2025 (OMDURMAN) – A woman was killed, and two others were injured when the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) targeted army-controlled areas of Omdurman, Sudan, with artillery fire and drone strikes early on Sunday.
An artillery shell struck a house in the 8th neighbourhood of Al-Thawra city in Karari locality, north of Omdurman, at around 3:35 a.m. (0135 GMT), killing the woman and injuring two others, the report said.
A Sudan Tribune correspondent heard four explosions before smoke and fire rose from a house in the 8th neighbourhood near Al-Nau Hospital.
About an hour later, the 19th neighbourhood of Al-Thawra was targeted by drones, but there were no casualties, as one of the drones hit an abandoned house, Sudan Tribune reported.
Residents told Sudan Tribune they heard drone engines overhead, as well as the sound of the army’s anti-aircraft defences engaging the drones.
A medical source told Sudan Tribune that Al-Nau Hospital had received the body of a woman and two injured people following the shelling in Karari locality.
The RSF has repeatedly targeted army-controlled areas in Omdurman with artillery and drones, resulting in hundreds of civilian deaths, according to local reports.
The army and allied forces have significantly advanced in the Ombada locality, west of Omdurman, though the RSF still controls some areas.
RSF forces are stationed in the Al-Salha suburb, south of Omdurman, extending to the Jebel Aulia reservoir, about 45 kilometres (28 miles) south of Khartoum.
