Khartoum governor says war justifies mass mobilization against RSF

January 2, 2026 (KHARTOUM) – Khartoum State Governor Ahmed Osman Hamza said on Friday that the war in Sudan necessitates the mobilization of all Sudanese people because they have experienced all forms of violations by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

Speaking at a graduation ceremony for mobilized volunteers in the Salha suburb south of Omdurman, the governor asserted that the restoration of control over Darfur and Kordofan would happen soon, despite what some may believe.

He noted that Khartoum State localities are continuously graduating thousands of volunteers, some of whom will receive advanced combat training to join the front lines in Kordofan.

“We say to everyone who seeks to prolong the war by inciting certain countries that victory is coming,” the governor said.

He added that Popular Resistance has shifted the balance of power during the conflict and taught the militia lessons in steadfastness, explaining that it began spontaneously in response to RSF oppression.

The governor stated that Khartoum State and the southern countryside of Omdurman are receiving people affected by the war from Kordofan.

He praised the residents of Omdurman’s rural areas for confronting the RSF during its withdrawal from Khartoum State. He reported that the RSF killed approximately 200 civilians in the southern rural region of Omdurman.
