Sudanese medical group says RSF forces stormed East Darfur hospital

April 2 2026 (ED DAEIN) – The Sudan Doctors Network accused the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on Thursday of storming a hospital in the city of Ed Daein in East Darfur State and assaulting medical staff.

Ed Daein, which is under RSF control, is experiencing an unprecedented security breakdown. The city has seen a surge in crimes, including murder, looting, and kidnappings for ransom.

The Sudan Doctors Network said in a statement that an RSF unit stormed Al-Usra Hospital in the Al-Nazir neighbourhood of Ed Daein. The group reported that the soldiers beat medical personnel during the raid.

The attacking force caused extensive damage to the facility and completely destroyed medical equipment. The network noted that the incident occurred without any intervention from local authorities, further endangering civilians and disrupting medical services.

The statement claimed the group involved is protected by the head of the Civil Administration. It described the attack as a clear violation of international laws and norms that criminalize the targeting of health facilities and their workers.

Attacks against doctors by RSF elements have escalated this week in South and East Darfur. On March 30, Dr Mohamed Ahmed Ali al-Siddiq was killed in Nyala after a fatal assault by an RSF officer and several soldiers inside his home.
