UN says drone strikes kill civilians in Sudan as aid reaches cut-off towns

June 12, 2026 (NUNITED NATIONS) – Drone strikes killed at least six civilians in Sudan’s Kordofan region, the United Nations said on Thursday, as aid agencies managed to deliver vital supplies to thousands of people cut off by the fighting.

A drone strike in El Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan State, killed at least four civilians and injured several others on Wednesday, UN Spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric told reporters during a briefing in New York.

Separately, another drone strike hit a vehicle in the town of Dilling, located in South Kordofan State, resulting in two deaths, Dujarric added.

“We condemn killings of civilians in this conflict and all other conflicts,” Dujarric said, reiterating calls for all warring parties to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure.

The UN reported that despite persistent security and access constraints, humanitarian agencies have continued to distribute aid in several parts of the country.

In South Kordofan, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) dispatched an eight-truck convoy this week to deliver health, nutrition, water, sanitation, and hygiene supplies to Dilling and Kadugli.

The delivery is expected to assist nearly 39,000 people who have been largely isolated from humanitarian support due to the active hostilities.

Meanwhile, the World Food Programme (WFP) and its local partners distributed food rations to approximately 25,000 displaced people near Ed Damazin, the capital of Blue Nile State.

The UN spokesperson urged all factions to facilitate the rapid, safe, and unhindered delivery of sustained humanitarian assistance across the conflict zones.
