Payinjiar has recently experienced a lot of flooding due to last week’s heavy rainfall.

In an interview with Sudan Tribune, Joak said all the recently planted crops has been destroyed by the floods.

Joak urged international NGOs to provide aid before the situation worsens. As well as the inevitable food shortage, there are fears of water-borne disease.

On Thursday Taker Riak Dong, Leer county commissioner, told state radio that his county has also been affected by the flooding.

Much of Unity state has been affected by unpredictable rainfall this year. The planting of crops was delayed as the rains came. It is feared that this will result in widespread food shortages.

Build dykes, this is what is done sometimes. I hope it will render a temporary solution.

Community initiatives to protect members is more crucial than aid from NGOs. The young men and other able-bodied citizens of Panyinjiar should construct community dyke like the one done in 2008 by people of Mayendit County to protect themselves from natural disaster.

    AHMED and LAT

The flood that hit Payinjiar County cannot be protected by dykes. The young youths have tried their best to protect only where children can sleep. The commissioner is reporting to the UN agencies to intervene interms of other aids like food aid, medical aid and other non-food items. He did not ask the UN agencies to come and build dykes.

Check back on the report again and see how the water flow, plus the daily rain falls, you cannot talk of dykes. Talk of where people and cows can stay.

Flood hit most parts of South Sudan and that will lead to famine next year, so we want to appeal to UN agencies as early as possible since our government will never do anything. All those big bodies only uses public funds for their own issues. You have recently seen from Unity State that over 40’000 SSD has been used to sponsor only one lady who is a daughter to the state speaker.

    God Knows.

Yes build dykes, this is the result of hostalities, people needs to forget the wrongdoing things and perpare themselves from any natural disasterous things like flood,Rains and etc.
Leave nonsens and do your prvention otherwise you will be IDPS.
The possible solution will come out from this warning.
