China pledges to boost military cooperation with Sudan

November 16, 2011 (KHARTOUM) – Chinese defense minister Liang Guanglie pledged on Wednesday to develop military cooperation with Sudan saying it is an important part of bilateral relations between the two countries.

Liang made these statements following a meeting with his Sudanese counterpart Abdel Rahim Mohamed Hussein who is currently visiting China, a main supplier of arms to Sudan.

The official Chinese news agency said the two minister met today in Beijing, where Liang held talks with Abdel Rahim without elaborating. Xinhua pointed out that Liang hailed “the traditional friendship between the two countries”.

“As an important part of bilateral relations, China-Sudan military ties have developed well. We hope to advance the relationship with the joint efforts of Sudan,” the Chinese minister stated.

Sudanese army is equipped with Chinese warplanes, tanks and gunships used in Darfur and South Sudan say different reports by international groups and UN agencies.

Sudan in the past granted different oil fields in South Sudan to the state-owned China National Petroleum Corp which is still working there besides their presence in the remaining oil industry in Sudan.

China and Sudan established diplomatic ties on Feb. 4, 1959. Beijing always highlights Sudan’s support to “one-China policy” which means there is only one state called China and denies any legal recognition to Taiwan or “Republic of China”.

Abdel Rahim said “Sudan will stick to the one-China policy and appreciated China’s assistance to Sudan’s economic and social development”, Xinhua reported.

Yeah, let those poor leaders of South Sudan be keen in the foreign relation especially when it come to diplomacy with China.
They should consult experts in world politics, let them know something about capitalism verse communism, multiparty system verse one party system and respect for human right verse human right abuse before building ties without evil governments like that of China.

Well, Jenubiin must cut absolute ties with China economically as a way of sanctioning China. We must not allow them to mine and explore our oil fields. That is why I had the current Juba administration because they are stupid enough to maintain a bilateral relations with a nation that supplies our common enemy with weapon and yet you continue to befriended them. They lack politics. Sanction China!

    Brother Red Army ,

Istrongly oppose any oil deal with China from day one coz they not only selling their weapons to Khartoum but reaches to the extend of piloting the war plane in the Southern Sudanese skies by droping bombs. It will be wise to have Mongolia as friend than China.

China, China, China! is going to keep arming the Arabs so that they can loot our oils and divide between themselves. Why is China behaving like that? South Sudan should give China some pressure if they want to keep their oil deal. Let RoSS use oil as a tool to make China stop supporting the NCP.

there is a need for the southern sudanese to evict the chinese companies from the south sudan territory as a response to this unwanted chinese behaviors. China and Russia are countries that always stands against the will of civillians in many countries in the world like in sudan, Syria, libya and many other countries that are suffering from chinese support of dictatorial government and thugs.

yes Lorolokin, Chines are not only who have skills, there are other nations such as Japan, south Korea, they are talented and the same time are democratic countries, if we need a democratic South Sudan then we should work with these countries which we can established long term relationship with them, so we can’t be victim of autocratic system that are looking for their own interest.

Kiir must either step up the game China is playing with Khartoum, or cut tie with China & cancel all South Sudan oil contracts Khartoum signed with China before the split. We have the leverage and it should be used to our own advantage. With South gone, Khartoum is no longer holding all the cards.

    Hilarious indeed!
For those who are not conversant with international politics will beat around the bush for the rest of their lives.Capitalist and the communist technocrats were at our door the other day all in the name of modernizing our forces into a conventional soldiers. When one of them went back without blossoms in her heart, it had to go the opposite direction to counter attack the other.

Mr. Simon, I failed to understand your logic “Hilarious indeed!”I don’t think this is a joke. This information is a warning to the South Sudan government. Do you know right now at the border of north Kordofan state they had establish a large military base.2 AN-26 Antonius bomber 7 Jet fighters 4 large helicopters 32 tanks. The north is making sure the government of south is incapable of functioning.

And we all know that those who do not have leverage of any kind have no place in international politics. Their well beings are only & always at the mercy of the so-called powerful .The point is we want the ROSS to exercise its leverage in order to balance the imbalance.

May I beg a pardon, to express to South Sudan Government that doing business with China is currently bad. China shouldnt eat with both hands…she shouldn’t be allowed to do business, as her hands are dirty and bloody. What principle are our current government employing to ensure that the very money or transits money aren’t being use by Khartoum to buy weapons from China? Irresponsible indeed.
